Overview:

The residency program was created to assist newly graduated RNs during their first year of employment with professional development and growth. This residency requires the following for admission: current RN license holder, less than 24 months RN experience, resides or works in a rural county, and graduated from an accredited school of nursing (Associate’s Degree, diploma, or Baccalaureate Degree). This is a FULLY ONLINE residency program built for Rural Texas Nurses. 

Objectives

  • Newly graduated RNs will participate in evidence-based project
  • Newly graduated RNs will demonstrate critical thinking skills
  • Newly graduated nurses will apply coping mechanisms to decrease stress level
  • Newly graduated nurses will be oriented to organizational culture and clinical scope and standards of practice

Info Sessions

The Center for Rural Health and Nursing will be hosting Info Sessions to give more information on what exactly the residency program is, what nurse leaders and nurses can expect to gain from the program, and timelines for the program.
